I walked with you…
I remember those days we did nothing but walk in or out of the sun, towards or away from, it doesn’t matter so much anymore. We were walking and we were under the sun, somewhere.
Your voice was so different then, your feet so small, my body so sure.
Walking together.
We walked so many places you and I, but we never went anywhere. You never asked, “are we there yet?” I was your everything and we were everywhere.
Your daddy told us he is making air a destination. To travel through the clouds, to stay for days. He tells us a lot of things, half of which I don’t know are true. One foot inside this world, he isn’t so sure himself. Like you, I don’t ask too much, for his fiction is far too fantastical to find out. Some things are better left not knowing.
I don’t dare wonder what could have been. I just walk with you-like we did all those years ago, only this time, always towards the sun.
